Purpose
The purpose of this Special Meeting of Council is to kick-off the Official Review Process with Council and the public. Staff will present a summary of the key issues; anticipated policy updates and County Official Plan conformity matters to be addressed and introduce the Draft Policy Directions Report. This report can be found on the Township’s Official Plan Review project webpage for public review in advance of the meeting. Please note that we are not presenting any new policies at this point we only want to hear what Council wants us to consider in the review.
Public Engagement
Council will have the opportunity to discuss and provide direction on those matters. There will also be opportunity for public to share comments on matters for the Official Plan Review, should any members of the public or agencies be interested (no new official plan will be presented at this stage). Written comments may be received as well, and we will consider all comments when finalizing the Policy Directions Report.
The only material that will be presented at this meeting is the Draft Policy Directions Report, explaining the proposed policy changes to be in conformity with the United Counties of Prescott-Russell (UPCR) Official Plan and the 2020 Provincial Policy Statement (PPS). This process will take up to one year, allowing for plenty of time for public engagement. Questions and comments can be sent via email at planning@russell.ca if the public is not available to attend in person. If you have concerns or suggestions, staff are also available to meet to discuss one on one.
