Lottery Licences
Lottery licence applications must be submitted 14 days prior to the event or 21 days for first time organizations.
Am I Eligible for a Lottery Licence?
Lottery licenses are available for eligible not-for-profit organizations. Lottery licences are not available for private functions or individuals to fundraise for personal reasons even if you are intending to give the funds raised to charity.
The Township of Russell can provide eligible charities and not-for-profit organizations with lottery licences for the following types of lotteries:
- Bazaar
- Bingo
- Blanket Raffles
- Break Open Tickets
- Raffles
Request a Lottery Licence Application
It is illegal to print tickets, promote or conduct a charitable gaming event without your lottery licence.
An incomplete or late application may result in the cancellation of your charitable gaming event.
New Organization
If your organization has never had a lottery license with the Township of Russell, please contact the Clerk's Department to start the evaluation process of your organization. You will need to submit your lottery license application at least 21 days prior to the event.
New Application
Organizations must submit their lottery application at least 14 days prior to the event. All organizations are responsible for the yearly update of their file (Board of directors, budget, financial statements).
Extension of Break Open Tickets
Organizations must submit their extension request by writing to the Clerk's Department at least 14 days prior to the expiry of the lottery licence.
Licence Fee
A fee is applicable as per the User Fee By-law in effect.
