2024 Municipal By-Election
Register as a Candidate
Residents in the Township of Russell may register as candidates for the office of Councillor (one elected at large) in the 2024 Municipal By-Election. Candidates have until August 16, 2024, by 2:00p.m. to file or withdraw their nomination.
The office for nomination is:
- Councillor – one elected at large
To submit your name as a candidate you must file the following with the Municipal Clerk:
- a completed Nomination Form (Form 1) and the nomination fee
- a completed Endorsement of Nomination Form (Form 2)

Nominations for the Township of Russell 2024 municipal by-election may be filed by appointment only with the Clerk or Deputy Clerk until 2:00 p.m. on Nomination Day (Friday, August 16, 2024 - 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.) You may book your appointment with the Clerks Department at elections@russell.ca or calling 613-443-3066.
As nominations are received, they will be added to the unofficial list of candidates on our website.
The 2024 Municipal By-Election is September 30, 2024. Voting by telephone and Internet begins on Thursday, September 26, 2024, at 9:00 a.m. and continues until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, September 30, 2024 (Voting Day).
Make sure you are registered to vote:
- Until July 22: you can confirm, add, or change your information on the voters list online using the website RegisterToVoteON.ca.
- After July 22: please fill in and submit form Application to Amend Voters' List and submit to elections@russell.ca along with a piece of ID. You may also bring it in person to Town Hall between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
