Special Branch Collection Date
Following the ice storm we experienced in our community in early April, Council has approved a special collection date to help pickup debris resulting from this storm. The Township of Russell has hired a third-party company to complete this extra collection at the cost of $10,000 a week. This will be funded by our waste management reserve budget.
Collection will begin Monday, May 1st 2023 and will continue until all roads have been covered. Please have everything ready by the curbside by 7:00a.m. as they will only go by each road one time.
- Please have branches 10” in diameter and smaller neatly stacked at the roadside or driveway with cut ends ready to be put thru a woodchipper.
- Wood can be stacked at the roadside in manageable pieces, maximum of 16” in diameter.
- Residents interested in picking up wood chips can come to the Municipal Garage at 857 Route 400 starting on May 2nd. There will be a pile on the East side of the garage.
This is a limited collection to collect branches and debris from the storm only. Our regularly scheduled yard waste collection will be Saturday June 3rd, 2023.
A reminder that residents can also bring yard waste and branches up to 5” in diameter free of charge to the GFL Vars Transfer Station during their operating hours.
