Recreation Complex Now in Design Phase
The Township of Russell’s Recreation Complex project is moving into the design phase.
At the council meeting of Monday, April 4, 2022, Council reviewed and approved the Recreation Complex layout plan, financial plan, and gave approval to move forward with a detailed design. The design will include detailed drawings for the structure, façade, landscaping, lighting, heating, cooling, and other engineering elements.
“After many public consultations and discussions at the Council table, we now have a plan for the Recreation Complex that fulfills the communities’ priorities, meets our financial planning goals, and realizes Council’s vision for the future,” states Mayor Leroux. “We look forward to seeing the conceptual plan come to life in the detailed design.”
The design drawings will be presented and reviewed by Council on an ongoing basis, with updates at 30% completion in November 2022, 60% completion in January 2023, and 90% completion in March 2023.
The Recreation Complex should include:
- Indoor Pool
- 3 Arenas
- Community Hall
- Gymnasium
- Bowling Hall
“We are very pleased to have reached another milestone in the Recreation Complex project,” states Céline Guitard, Director of Parks and Recreation.
The current timeline sets construction to begin in the fall of 2023.
