You are invited to the unveiling of the winning photographs from the 2024 Township of Russell Photo Expo! This exciting reveal will take place on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at 12:00 p.m. at the Russell Fairgrounds.
You will find the Expo in the big barn, behind the Russell arena at 1084 Concession Street in Russell.
This year’s theme, “Best Kept Secret,” along with a subsidy from the Ontario Arts Council, inspired a record number of entries. With 215 submissions, more than double the amount received last year, the jury had the challenging task of selecting four winners. We ultimately decided to add a fifth prize for the Jury’s Choice.
The five winning artists will have their photographs added to the outdoor expo at the start of recreational trail in Embrun, and each will receive CARFAC fees of $400 in recognition of their artistic contributions. Additionally, the jury awarded honourable mentions to seven artists, all of whom, along with the four winners, will receive a subscription to PhotoEd Magazine to further encourage their artistic talents.
Photo submissions will be on display from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Russell fairgrounds. Be sure to stop by and explore the beauty of our community through the lens of our talented photographers! The Photo Expo will take place during the Autumn in the Country art festival, which features local artists and artisans.
