GFL Environmental Visit
(Moose Creek, Ontario, May 3, 2023) - Russell Township administration and staff recently visited GFL Environmental’s Eastern Ontario Waste Handling Facility (EOWHF). They presented their green energy program, centered on becoming self-sufficient by reducing and reusing gas emanating naturally from its landfills.
During this visit GFL staff provided us with an update on their current operations and potential future processes. Initiatives such as the transfer station in Vars and the composter in Moose Creek have proven to be beneficial to GFL, its community partners and the environment in general, due to the increase in efficiency and the diversion of waste from landfill. GFL continues to seek opportunities to become more green and more efficient. This partnership is important to our Township as we continue to grow, all the while ensuring a continued quality of life for residents in our Township.
