Earth Day is April 22
This year, Earth Day invites you to use sustainable mobility and skip the car! Walk, bike or carpool that day to show your commitment to the environment. Gas emissions in Canada are at an all-time high. This Earth Day, we’re challenging commuters to skip the car to reduce gas emissions – and they get a leg day in! It’s a win-win. Join the challenge at www.earthday.ca/legday.
As part of the Township Climate Action Plan, the Township of Russell and the Environmental and Sustainability Advisory Committee invited schools to develop ideas for activities in support of this year’s Earth Day.
Community Events
As in past years, in collaboration with the Environmental and Sustainability Advisory Committee, the Township of Russell is planning environmentally friendly events in support of this year’s Earth Day set for April 22, 2024.
- Saturday, April 27 is the community Clean-up Day, where residents are asked to help us make our community cleaner by cleaning parks and neighborhoods. You can leave the bags at your curb. No tags required.
- Sunday, April 28, between 9:00 and 11:00 a.m., members of the Township’s Environmental and Sustainability Advisory Committee are inviting you to join them in the clean-up of the recreational trail. Members will be located at key entry points along the trail to provide you with gloves and bags. Dress appropriately (recommended long sleeves and pants).
On behalf of the Township and the Environmental and Sustainability Advisory Committee, we thank you for your collaboration in making our community one that takes pride in preserving our environment, while aiming for a more sustainable future for all.
