Citizen Recognition – Community Service and Volunteerism (Item 8a) |
The Township of Russell is proud to recognize 12 outstanding volunteers with Citizen Recognition Awards for their dedication to the Catch the Ace initiative. Their efforts have raised $4.6 million so far for local charities! We are also thrilled to award the first-ever Key to the Township to Doug and Cindy Anthony for their exceptional leadership and impact on our community. |
Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (Item 11d) |
The Municipal Class Environmental Assessment for the road network extension in the 417 Industrial Park has been completed. Council received the final report, which highlights the preferred road layout to support the expansion of the 417 Industrial Park. Following the open house in May 2024, the preferred option was modified to reflect public feedback. A Notice of Completion will be issued shortly, initiating a 30-day review period. |
Tariffs Impacts on Municipal Projects (Item 11h) |
Council received an update on the potential impacts of U.S.-Canada trade tariffs on the Township’s infrastructure projects. The Township is actively monitoring the situation, working with suppliers, and preparing for possible cost increases or delays. A high-level estimate suggests a potential $2.3M increase in project costs. These impacts remain manageable, and staff will continue to provide updates quarterly and as needed. |
