Presentation from StandOurGround (Item 8)
Council heard a presentation from residents regarding the Official Plan. Council remains committed to listening to residents’ concerns. Residents will also have the opportunity to participate in an Official Plan open house on February 12, 2025, at 6:00p.m. at Town Hall. This is part of our public consultation process, which includes an open house and public meetings in front of Council before it’s final approval at a following Council meeting.
Service Agreements with Neighbouring Municipalities (Items 11j-o)
Council approved six new service agreements, strengthening partnerships with neighboring municipalities as the Russell Public Safety and Enforcement Department extends animal control and dog pound services to the Townships of North Stormont, South Stormont, and South Dundas.
Recommendations from the PRAC (Items 11tu)
The Council received two recommendations from the Parks, Recreation and Culture Advisory Committee (PRAC).
- Separate tennis and pickleball courts and designate Jonathan Pitre Park courts for tennis and Michel Malboeuf courts for pickleball.
- Installation of a tennis practice wall in memory of Mr. Bernard Houle along with a commemorative plaque..
These will be further discussed during the revision of the Recreation Master Plan later this year.
Speed Complaint – Forced Road - Report IS-PW-2025-02 (Item 11p)
Council approved the installation of traffic calming measures on Forced Road. The installation of bollards will be completed in the spring.
The next Council meeting will be Monday, February 10, 2025, at 6:00p.m.
