Connie Johnston Receives Community Builder Award
Council had the pleasure of presenting a Community Builder Award to Connie Johnston last night for her active participation in our community. Every few weeks, Connie leads a team to raise funds for local citizens, groups and causes serving the community’s greatest needs with Trivia Nights. These fundraisers are so popular and needed that she has them booked into 2025 due to the high demand. She has helped raise hundreds of thousands of dollars every year without remuneration of any form, purely for the benefit of our community.
On top of the Trivia Nights, Connie was a charter member of the Kin Club of Russell and has helped load such projects as Fort Mack We've Got Your Back, Jonathan Pitre Butterfly Mile, etc. Connie’s dedication to preserving our history is evident in her writing a book on the history of Russell at present time. This is a testament to her deep love and respect for our Township and its heritage.
Whenever there is a need, Connie is there. Her unwavering commitment and selfless acts of kindness have made a profound impact on the lives of so many in our community.
“Thank you very much for this wonderful award. I am only as good as the people behind me and I have some of them with me tonight. It’s a joy to live in this community and again, thank you very much” shared Connie.
