Bi Visibility Day
More
September 23rd is Bi Visibility Day. First officially observed in 1999, this day recognize and celebrate bisexual people, the bisexual community, and the history of bisexuality. Bisexuality can be defined as being attracted to one's own gender as well as other genders. Or being attracted not exclusively to people of one particular gender.
This celebration of bisexuality in particular, as opposed to general LGBT events, was conceived as a response to the prejudice and marginalization of bisexual people by some in both the straight and greater LGBT communities.
With the help of our Community, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee, the Township of Russell continues to foster a healthy and safe community where all feel welcome, comfortable, valued, and respected.
