Lynne Perras and Daniel St Pierre Receive Community Award
At the Regular Council Meeting held on May 27th, 2024, Council, had the distinct privilege of recognizing Lynne Perras and Daniel St Pierre with Citizen Recognition Awards for their courage during the April 22, 2024, bus accident.
On that day, a school bus and a transport truck were involved in an accident that could have had far more serious consequences had it not been for the heroic intervention of our citizens, including Lynne Perras and Daniel St Pierre.
Both Lynne and Daniel exemplify the values that make our community strong. Their actions during the accident showed incredible courage and an unwavering commitment to the well-being of others. Lynne Perras, who was present at the accident, reacted immediately by running to the bus to assess the situation. She comforted the children until help and parents arrived. Her expertise as a specialized educator was essential in calming the children during this moment of great distress. On the other hand, Daniel St Pierre was standing in his driveway when the accident occurred, just twenty feet from where the bus landed. He immediately went to assist and escorted the children safely onto his property until emergency responders arrived. Despite witnessing the injuries and trauma of the children, Daniel's kindness did not waver. Residents like Lynne and Daniel remind us of the power of community and the importance of looking out for one another.
In recognition of their heroism and exemplary compassion, we are honoured to present Lynne Perras and Daniel St Pierre with our Township’s Resident Recognition Award. “Your courage inspires us all, and it is with immense gratitude that we celebrate your invaluable contribution to our community today,” added Mayor Mike Tarnowski.
