Stiver Park Improved Thanks to Community Group
In the fall of 2020, a small group of community members created the "Stiver Park Project" to bring the community together and enhance Stiver Park.
In less than 2 years, the Stiver Park Project collected nearly $15,000 between fundraising campaigns and local grants. Two mature maple trees were planted, a cement pad poured, and a sail shade structure installed; all paid for by community fundraising efforts. The project team is so proud of the community and what has been accomplished in this grassroots project, all in such a short time.
The Township of Russell is also proud to support this community initiative. Staff worked with the project team to install the accessible picnic table, a permanent garbage unit, and 5 new trees.
“Thank you again to the Stiver Park group for this great initiative. It was very nice to work with them, and we hope to do it again in the future,” says Céline Guitard, Director of Parks and Recreation.
Stiver Park is located at 343 Stiver Street in Russell. For your safety, all municipal parks with a play structure are now closed for the winter!
