It is with deep sadness that we address the incident that occurred in Bourget during the early morning hours of May 11, 2023. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families, friends, and colleagues of the officers involved in this tragic event. We extend our heartfelt condolences to the family of the fallen officer and offer our support to the injured officers and their loved ones.
We are grateful for the quick response and professionalism demonstrated by the Russell County OPP Detachment in handling the situation. Our community stands behind our law enforcement officers, and we appreciate their dedication and commitment to keeping us safe.
We would like to express our gratitude to the neighbouring communities, emergency services, and medical professionals who have assisted in the response to this incident. Your dedication and collaboration are deeply appreciated.
The Township of Russell is committed to providing any necessary support to the affected families and our local OPP detachment. We ask for your understanding and patience as the OPP works through this challenging situation.
May our community find strength and unity as we support those impacted by this tragedy."
