Russell Township Fire Services Honors Chief Bruce Armstrong

Russell, ON — On Saturday, September 16, 2023, the Russell Township Fire Services gathered in a heartwarming ceremony to pay tribute to Fire Chief Bruce Armstrong for his longstanding dedication and remarkable contributions to the Russell community and the Fire Services. As a symbol of their deep appreciation, the fire station has been officially renamed the "Bruce Armstrong Fire Station."

Chief Armstrong's journey with the Russell Fire Department began in 1992, and over the years, he exhibited exceptional leadership, devotion, and an unwavering commitment to the safety and well-being of the community. In 2002, he assumed the role of Fire Chief, and in 2022 Fire Chief of the Township of Russell Fire Services, leading the department through a period of significant growth and evolution until his retirement at the end of 2022.

Under Chief Armstrong's guidance, the Russell Fire Department witnessed unprecedented advancements in its operations, certifications, and overall competency. His visionary leadership and relentless pursuit of excellence have set a new standard for fire services across the nation. With 107 years of history behind it, the Russell Fire Department has never seen a Chief who has matched or even attempted the level of transformation that Chief Bruce Armstrong has brought to the department.

Chief Armstrong's tenure has not only elevated the department's capabilities but has also instilled a profound sense of duty and community service in every member of the Russell Township Fire Services.
