Drop-off Depots

You can drop off your natural Christmas tree at the Russell or Embrun arenas on select days in December and January.

Drop-off locations:

• Embrun Arena: North-East corner of the property; near the outdoor rink
• Russell Arena: North of the building, near the Lions club sign

Before dropping off your tree, make sure to remove:

• Tree bags
• Tinsel
• Ornaments
• Nails
• Tree skirts
• Stands
• Snow and ice

Artificial (fake) Christmas trees are not accepted as part of this collection.

Please store your tree for next year, or take it to the GFL Russell/Vars Transfer Station, located at 211 Corduroy Road.

The Township is currently working with its service provider to confirm the date of the next hazardous waste event.

Hazardous waste drop‑off events are held once a year. Dates will be listed in the online events calendar and the Waste Collection Calendar when available.

The event takes place at the municipal garage, located at 852 Route 400 in Embrun.

Due to high demand, the event may reach capacity before the end time. The Ministry of the Environment does not allow us to accept hazardous waste outside this special collection time, even if residents are still waiting in line.

What items can I bring?

During a municipal hazardous waste event, you can bring:

• Paint
• Propane
• Pesticides
• Batteries
• Fertilizers
• Antifreeze
• Aerosols
• Bulbs
• Fluorescent tubes
• Oil and filters
• Acids
• Fire extinguishers

This service is for Township of Russell residents only. Proof of residency is required.

Only residential hazardous waste is accepted.
