Pink Shirt Day is celebrated annually on the last Wednesday of February. This year, it falls on February 26, 2025. On this day, we honour the small act of kindness that took place in Berwick, Nova Scotia, back in 2007 when a boy was bullied for wearing a pink shirt and two grade 12 students bought 50 pink shirts and encouraged their classmates to wear pink. February 19, 2025 — The ‘Société historique d’Embrun’ (better known as the Embrun Station committee) is very happy to announce a $50 000 grant from the Desjardins Ontario Credit Union Community Development Fund. An on-street parking ban is in effect tonight, until 7:00 a.m. on Monday, February 17, 2025.
During this period, no person shall park a vehicle or permit a vehicle to remain on a street between the hours of 1:00 a.m. on February 15 and 7:00 a.m. on February 17, regardless of the weather conditions. Any person who does so is liable to a fine and/or will have their vehicle towed at the owner’s expense.

Council had the pleasure of presenting a Community Award to Dave Dyer last night for his active participation in local sports and volunteerism. Dave has been involved in the advancement of sports in Russell for many years. He helped champion the first public tennis court facility and helped bring outdoor lighting to the baseball diamonds and soccer fields in Russell.
