As Council and administration work to finalize the 2025 budget for approval at the November 12, 2024, Council meeting, we wanted to share the feedback gathered from residents during this process.

This winter, The Township of Russell's parking regulations have shifted to an alert-based system for the entire season, aiming to provide residents with greater flexibility while ensuring safe and accessible streets during snow events.

Just a quick note about some parking changes coming up next Monday, October 21st.
Sports Dome Parking: The parking lot will be closed from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. for parking line repainting. Please park along Sportsplex Street or in the Valoris lot during that time. See included image for alternative parking locations!

Council had the honour of presenting a Citizen Recognition Award to 13-year-old Jacob Landriault for his quick thinking and heroic actions. On September 29, 2024, Jacob was outside with his mother when they encountered a man frantically searching for his missing 8-year-old son. Unofficial By-Election Results

The unofficial results of the Russell Township municipal by-election have been announced, with Charles Armstrong declared the winner. Armstrong will assume office on October 15, 2024, for the remainder of the 2022-2026 term, ending on November 14, 2026.
Voter turnout was recorded at 22.8%, with 3,746 of the 16,407 eligible voters participating. While voter participation was lower than expected, the election remains a significant component of democratic engagement within the community.
