The Township of Russell’s Council has approved a contract with A.L. Blair Construction to proceed with the replacement of the existing culvert on St-Pierre Road. This work is necessary to upgrade aging infrastructure and improve drainage.

Cooling Centres Open Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday

With the high temperatures of the next few days, the Township of Russell will have daytime cooling centers to provide relief from the heat to residents in need from Tuesday July 15 to Thursday July 17, 2025.

Sports Dome

  • Located at 150 Sportsplex Street in Embrun.
  • Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 5:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.

Township of Russell Library - Russell Branch

  • Located at 1053 Concession Street in Russell.

Recreation Complex Update – July 7, 2025

Progress is moving quickly at the Township of Russell Recreation Complex! Each week brings major milestones as we move full steam ahead to deliver this important community facility.

This week, the erection of the pool structure has begun — a major step forward. Last week, we completed the leisure pool slab, and the walls are expected to be poured this week. We’ve also successfully poured the first rink apron slab and are preparing to pour the second one next week.

2024 Financial Statements Now Available

As per to Section 295 (1) a) ii) of the Municipal Act, 2001, copies of the 2024 audited consolidated financial statements for the Township of Russell are now available to any taxpayer or resident of the municipality. Flags at Half Mast – June 23, 2025

The Russell Centennial Pool opens for the season on June 25, 2025! Please note that for the first week, a modified schedule will be in effect.

Modified Public Swimming Schedule:

  • Wednesday, June 25 – 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
  • Thursday, June 26 – 3:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
  • Friday, June 27 – 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

TAKE NOTICE that the Council of The Corporation of the Township of Russell passed By-law 2025-75 to adopt a new Local Official Plan on May 26, 2025, pursuant to Section 17(22) of the Planning Act, R.S.O. 1990, as amended. This Notice of Adoption is issued pursuant to Section 17(23) of the Planning Act.

This New Local Official Plan is subject to approval from the United Counties of Prescott and Russell.

Recreation Complex Update – June 6, 2025

Work continues to move along well at the new recreation complex!

The building’s foundation is now complete, and crews have poured the base and walls of the lap pool. They’re currently working on building the ramp that will provide access to the pool. For the leisure pool, the pool contractor is installing the drains and pipes needed before pouring the base and walls.

Inside the building, the masonry team has now moved to the west side of the building to begin installing the exterior brick.
