Cindy Saucier, Councillor

After living in Metcalfe, my husband of now 40 years, Mike and I decided to move our family of five to Russell.  We wanted a community to raise our kids – where they could bike and play safely but still felt like the country and have friends close by.

Because the environment is so important to me, I’ve sat on various committees for the past 20 years including the Environmental Advisory Committee as well as the sub-committee which was looking at the proposed dump for this area.  I also sit on the South Nation Conservation Communication Committee and am an educational and forestry steward with SNC.

What motivated you to become a municipal councillor?

I’ve worked with the past 5 Mayors on various issues and this involvement and commitment led to my desire to run in the municipal election. As a Councillor, I sit on a number of committees which include the Russell Library board, the Russell Police Village, the Planning Committee, Russell Watch, the Russell Historical Society and, of course, the Environmental Advisory Committee.

What do you do for fun? / ‘What You Won’t Read on LinkedIn’

My interest vary but right now I am taking a painting class.  I also enjoy fitness, Zumba and camping. I also take great pride in being the local Russell-Embrun organizer for the Terry Fox run for cancer research. Other hobbies include volunteering with the Russell District Horticultural Society, the Russell Historical Society, "Trees for Tomorrow" and community trivia nights.
