Parking Tickets
A Provincial Offences Act (POA) Part II Offence Notice is also called a parking ticket or a parking infraction. These tickets are issued against a licence plate and not the driver of the vehicle. In order to avoid additional fees or an unwanted conviction, the ticket should be dealt with within 15 days of the issue date.
IMPORTANT NOTICE - COVID-19
If you received an Offence Notice (ticket) or Parking Infraction Notice (parking ticket) after March 1, 2020, you have until February 26, 2021 to exercise one of the options set out on the back of the Notice. If you do not respond by February 26, 2021 you may be deemed not to dispute the charge and a justice may enter a conviction for the offence. See the
United Counties of Prescott and Russell's COVID Information Webpage under the "Provincial Offences Office" Section for details.

To initiate a review, you must make an appointment to schedule a meeting by calling 613-443-3066, ext. 2340 or in person at the Bylaw department of City Hall located at 717 Notre Dame Street in Embrun, Ontario. At this meeting, you will have the opportunity to discuss the parking ticket before deciding if the trial option is the best option.

You cannot set a trial for a parking ticket by phone or mail.
What if you fail to respond on time?
Failure to choose one of the options listed, or failure to pay your parking ticket on time can result in:
• Additional costs (court fees or collection fees);
• Inability to renew your licence plate sticker until outstanding fines have been paid;
• Notification to a credit reporting agency;
• Civil enforcement, which may include garnishment of wages and/or bank accounts, fine amounts being added to property tax bills, or registering a lien against property and assets.
In order to avoid enforcement actions, parking fines should be paid on or before the Due Date indicated on the Parking Infraction Notice or Notice of Impending Conviction.
If the ticket is past due, you may contact the Provincial Offences Collections Section at 1-800-667-6307 ext. 2700 for further information.
