Open Call for Photographers: 2024 Russell Township Photography Expo!

We invite hobby, amateur, and professional photographers to submit their images for the 2024 Township of Russell Photo Expo!
The Township of Russell is thrilled to announce that it has been awarded a $5,000 grant from the Ontario Arts Council through the Ontario Arts Presenters Projects. This generous grant will support the 2024 Photo Expo, fostering greater community participation and showcasing local talent. Read full press release.
Prize Information
Every person who submits will have at least one of their artworks printed and exhibited during the Autumn in the Country Art Festival on September 14, 2024. This year, in addition to having their work displayed, the four selected photographers will each receive CARFAC fees of $400 in recognition of their artistic contributions. Additionally, the 4 winners and select honorable mention artists will receive a subscription to PhotoEd Magazine.
An independent jury will look at all the images submitted and select 4 winners that will be printed and displayed as outdoor public art in the Township!
Theme
This year’s theme is “Best Kept Secret.” Show us the weird, beloved or unique spaces in Russell Township that highlight the best in our region. What is it that you see in the people and spaces that make it so special to you. Consider what you want to share with the world, and what mysteries you might want to keep just for yourself.
The jury will decide winners for the following categories:
- Best Youth (18 and under)
- Best Portrait
- Best Landscape
- Best Overall
Submissions
Anyone from Canada can enter this competition, however all images must have been taken within the Township of Russell boundaries. A map of the Township boundaries can be found at www.russell.ca/maps.
Submissions and participation for this event are free. You can submit up to 5 photos.
The Russell Township Photo Expo is a partnership between the Russell Agricultural Society and the Township of Russell. The Expo is made possible with the support of the Ontario Arts Council, SPAO Centre, and 8 80 Cities.
