The vision of the Economic Development Department is to ensure business prosperity by providing assistance to entrepreneurs. Retention and attraction of businesses in our community plays a big role in our department.

To ensure a healthy and sustainable growth for our local businesses, several strategies are put in place:

Business and volunteer recognitions

Business retention and expansion (BR+E) with the United Counties of Prescott and Russell (UCPR)

This is a project to develop an action plan that will result from a structured community effort in which the municipal government will engage in a dialogue with local businesses in order to implement initiatives that will sustain their profitability, growth, competitiveness and efficiency.

Incentive Programs

  • The Community Improvement Plan (CIP) provides grants up to $10,000 to encourage and support private sector reinvestment in the downtown buildings of Russell Township. Below is a list of the various grant programs available:
    • Façade Improvement
    • Signage Improvement
    • Accessibility Improvement
    • Residential Conversion to Commercial Use
    • Parking Area and Landscaping Improvement
    • Architectural / Engineering Design
    • Municipal Application / Permit Fees Rebate
    • Tax Increment

Learning opportunities

The Township offers free training to businesses to help them better manage their company, to ensure its growth and to inform them of the different projects and services offered by the municipality.
